Sophie Unwin

After co-founding the first remakery in Brixton in 2008 and setting up the Edinburgh Remakery from 2011-2017, our founder Sophie Unwin had the vision of setting up Remade Network to create a repair economy from the ground up with local communities, starting off in New York with consultancy for the Brooklyn Remakery project.
Sophie came to Glasgow in 2018, and four years later, thanks to the collaboration of communities across the city and a wonderful and growing team, steered her vision into being – from the Repair Academy to distributing 2300 computers throughout the COVID pandemic, to setting up repair kiosks across the city, creating 40 jobs in the process.
Now, Remade is consolidating its growth and building from its strong foundations with new leadership and management, and Sophie is working independently, using some of her learning to help others on their journeys. Read a Big Issue profile about Sophie here.
