Description
We are acutely aware that we are facing a digital Christmas. Meanwhile, it is estimated that 4.8 million people in the UK have never used the internet or last used it over 3 months ago.
With support from the Scottish Government, over the past few months we have been working to refurbish and distribute 500 desktop devices to organisations such as Freedom From Torture and Govan Community Project who are supporting people facing digital isolation due to low income, low IT literacy, or other barriers exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
These devices once destined for landfill, have instead been refreshed and refurbished then delivered to individuals who were facing digital isolation this Christmas.
With the initial 500 devices all now allocated, we know that many more people will face the holiday period without the necessary tech and connectivity to stay connected.
We want to continue getting devices out to people but we need your help!
You can help by sponsoring a computer to help someone in Glasgow stay connected.
“I would never have been able to afford it so it was a good thing. My wee boy is pure chuffed with it, he does his schoolwork and plays games. “I’m a proper dinosaur and my wee boy, who’s nine, has helped me set it up.”
